|I have a variety of things, from digital to traditional, drawings to hand-made figures, customized items, one or two poems, and even a few animations. I'm always looking for something new!|
And if you like what you see, pretty much everything is for sale in one way or another and I will recreate anything, too. If you are interested, please message me. Thanks!
So here's mine. I even added two extra OCs to go with her story, which I've actually put a bit of thought into. I like the idea and am going to try writing a pony fic about her, but I'm very inexperienced in such a thing and will hopefully be able to do it and finish it. Lantern Light is designed to look like me but she is not necessarily me in the story.
The quick character explanation of Lantern Light would be that she lives in a lighthouse in a town by the sea and it is her job to keep all the lanterns lit at night, because it gets very foggy on the coast. Her job makes it hard for her to have friends because she's awake when everypony else is asleep, but she does have one friend named Sea Smoke who is responsible for bringing in the fog. Due to her boredom, she starts playing a game called Questria, which is basically the magic pony equivalent of an MMORGP that transports you to another world where you can do anything and be anything you want with other players. She gets addicted to it, strives to reach alicorn tier, and makes virtual friends like Candy Cloud, but she starts shirking off her real life, and Sea Smoke has to help her see that living a virtual life to the extent that she does is meaningless and more harmful to her than she realizes. (And yes, her story is supposed to take place in the canon universe.)
For a more in-depth look at her character and story, read below~
Lantern Light/Fire Light:
She lives in the lighthouse of a town on the shore. (I'm still coming up with a name for the town...needs to be a good/bad horse pun!) Her job is to keep the lighthouse running and all of the lanterns in town lit, because the coast is very well known for its heavy fog at night. Because of her job, she is only awake at night when most other ponies are asleep, so she gets pretty lonely and bored. She craves attention and companionship but thanks to her lifestyle, that's kind of hard for her to have. Staying awake or getting up early to mingle with the day folk makes her crabby so she avoids doing that. Lantern Light does have one friend, and his name is Sea Smoke, a male pegasus that is one of the main weather ponies responsible for pushing the fog clouds onto land. He also has the night shift, so they see more of each other than most other ponies and end up becoming friends. Lantern can be kind of obsessive when she finds something she really likes, such as lanterns. She's always loved lanterns of all kinds since she was a filly and has a huge collection of any broken ones from her job that she is allowed to keep.
One night while contemplating how bored she is, she finds a flyer for the game Questria, which is basically the magical pony equivalent of an MMORPG. Lantern starts to play the game and realizes that she can do and be whatever she wants in it, and meet new people without staying up during the daytime. She can change her look, her name, her race, and even her cutie mark to be whatever she wants it to be! There is no such thing as destiny in Questria, other than the one you decide for yourself. Lantern falls in love with the game, and she ends up getting a bit obsessive about it, and over time she even starts to ignore the real world in favor of her fantasy one. She starts going by the name Fire Light while in game, changes her race from an earth pony to whatever she feels like at the time, and works very hard to become an alicorn in the game. (It's like being the highest level you can be in a game.) Once she does that, she starts to realize that all of it was all kind of meaningless. Being an alicorn in Questria isn't really all it's cracked up to be, because in the end, she really is just the same pony, except now she's even more alone than ever because she blew off Sea Smoke and her Questria friends aren't always there for her in the ways she needs them. Candy Cloud's betrayal is the major turning point when she realizes that she's been thinking of these ponies in the game as her close friends, but in reality, she doesn't know who any of them really are.
Quick explanation of Fire Light: This is what her in-game character eventually becomes, since her appearance changes whenever she equips different items or changes her race for a different set of abilities. Her mane and tail and coat color stay the same throughout. The red gems are all fire gems, and each gem she wears gives her more magic points. Gaudy as all hell, but effective. She likes using a lot of fire spells. Her cutie mark is very simple, because all cutie marks are very simple and generic in Questria. They are essentially meaningless in the game and are nothing more than badges you can swap out whenever you want.
He's quite large for a pegasus, but he is gentle enough to move fog clouds without breaking them. This goes with his quiet nature, which sometimes isolates him from others because he comes off as allusive. Really, he's just not a talker. Sea Smoke doesn't care much for words, but he will take actions very seriously. When Lantern Light blows him off to play her game, he is insulted and begins to ignore Lantern Light, because if he is not worth her time then she is not worth his. After awhile of this, he starts to notice that Lantern isn't doing her duties as well as usual, and he realizes that maybe ignoring her was not a good idea because now she really did have no reason not to lose herself in the virtual world. He still cares about her well-being, so he helps her come to realize that playing Questria so much is doing her more harm than good.
She's a friend of Lantern Light and they met in Questria. Her color scheme is way too bright and obnoxious because she made it that way, and she is not very good at character design. They do a lot of quests together and is often the one needing to be rescued when she jumps into a situation without thinking it through. (LEEROOOOOOY JENKINS) Not much is known about Candy outside of Questria. When she is in game, she likes to pretend to be native to Questria and acts as if there is no real world. Candy isn't delusional, she just likes to role play and immerse herself in the game.
Candy Cloud is very happy and adventurous. I would compare her to Daring Do, but with a more Pinkie Pie-like attitude. There are times that Candy will break character and in those times she seems very...different. Lantern wonders just how much of an act she really puts on.
They make a very good team but Candy isn't always there like Lantern is. She isn't quite as obsessed about Questria as her friend and contrary to how serious she acts about the game, that's really all it is to her. A game. She has no problem abandoning Lantern when she's not having enough fun which is something Lantern learns the hard way. It makes her realize that she's been thinking of these people as her close friends, but in reality, she doesn't know who any of them really are.
It's a magical game that anypony can play! All they have to do is buy a gateway orb, then set it on the ground or a table and tap it with one hoof. The pony will then "log in" via voice command and his/her consciousness is transported into a virtual reality that works very much like how an MMORPG works in our world. Their real body is still safe at home, but their mind is in a sort of trance-like state and they won't move until they are logged out. Every pony who starts the game will be a blank slate, and it is up to the pony to figure out what they want to look like and achieve from there.
Questria's three races act like a class system. Unicorns are able to do magic spells without the aid of gems and increase their magic points faster than the other two races. Pegasi can fly and are great for getting to things normal ponies can't, such as hidden loot, and only pegasi can enter the cloud cities. Their speed and agility points increase faster than the other two races. Earth ponies are the tanks of Quesria, they have high vitality and strength points and can increase them faster than the other two races. A pony can change their race whenever they want by going to certain dress shops where a race change spell can be preformed, though it does cost money each time. Their stats will carry over but some will have a certain percentage increase or decrease depending on the class a pony is changing to. Alicorns are the only class that a pony can't change into without unlocking it. They are the highest level players of the game and getting to an alicorn status requires defeating the game's final boss. Having an alicorn status means that they can increase all of their stats faster than any other pony, since it is a combination of the three races. Because of this, some alicorn players will eventually get bored because they are too powerful and there is nothing more to strive for. This would be Questria's major flaw, but don't worry, because a pony can always restart their character from the very beginning and chose a new destiny to follow. Questria has a lot of replay value.
AND THAT IS MY ESSAY. Phew. I'm uploading this primarily to submit to "Your OC Sucks" and it would be awesome if I got on their podcast. I love their opinions on character design and what-not so it would be an honor.
[EDIT] Made the cutie marks bigger since I realized they were kind of small and not placed right. That is all~
